God Bless the USA and God bless The ANGELS of AAP…Our Hero's at Home!!!!!!
SGT John E. Washburn, U.S. Army, deployed to Afghanistan
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear AdoptaPlatoon,
I am moved to write you great American ladies and moms to let you know how important the work is that you do. I work here in Afghanistan and am part of the same unit as SGT John Washburn. I have seen the things you have sent to John and been impressed very much! I will assure you that John shares all this stuff with our entire FOB, and I see the twinkle in the eyes of these young Soldiers as they come in and are able to pick out things they want or need. Some of these young men and women may not get very much stuff from back home, and it means so much to them to know that folks like you back home care, and back it up with action. Although many people talk about sending things and say "what do you need," your organization definitely walks the walk and is the most proactive service organization I have ever seen.
It is hard out here - austere living conditions, lack of simple things we take for granted at home (like being able to drink and brush your teeth from your sink!), and the tragedy of seeing people hurt and worse - sometimes strangers and sometimes friends - always tragic. But, the thing we miss most is just HOME and FAMILY. These are the most important things in life. Thank you for helping to provide things to make life easier, and for being, in a way, a "family" organization to he lp us. We appreciate you. And, like our brothers from past conflicts did not have, it is much easier to do this job when we know we have the support and love and concern from great Americans like you back home. We all wish we did not have to be here, and look forward to our safe return, but are proud to do this job asked of us by our great Nation, and appreciate so much your help and assistance.
With great respect and admiration,
Steve Jarrard, U.S. Army, deployed to Afghanistan
P.S. And...I am not a hero, but I work around and support heroes here every day - and it is my great privilege to do that and be part of this mission.

You andyour staff are such a great blessing to my Unit. You have lifted the morale of so many Soldiers and without good morale you can't fight a war. Thank you so much.

I just wanted to send you a sincere thank you for the packages that were sent from AdoptaPlatoon and your supporters. My troops and I enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the packages. It is nice to have the support from home. This is my second tour to Iraq. For some of my troops it is there first tour over here. It is nice to have a packages waiting for you after a mission. My troops and I want to thank you again for the package, we enjoyed it very much. My soldiers wanted me to express their appreciation; it was obvious there was much time, thought, consideration, support and love packed into each box. Especially heart-warming were the cards and letters you included expressing your support for our service here in Iraq. You all have > touched our hearts and made the New Year more enjoyable with care packages filled goodies, bringing a satisfying smile! Rest assured your message of support has been received by many and has certainly inspired positive influence on our platoon morale. Again, please pass on our sincerest appreciation to everyone involved with you and your organization and to the great citizens of the United States of America supporting our Armed Services. God bless you all

We would like to say a very heartfelt and warm "Thank you" to all of our
supporters who have made this deployment so much more bearable, and for
boosting the morale of hundreds of our Soldiers throughout the Battalion. We
will never forget the love and the care that we have been shown with the
Adopt A Platoon supporters, and will hold that in our hearts and memories
forever more. All of you are great Americans, and are very much appreciated.
Your support contributed greatly to the success of our mission and for the
personal enjoyment of our everyday life. With all of our love,

Thank you everyone for the support, it really is helping me get through my first deployment. Especially when I am missing the birth of my daughter, and that really depresses me. Anyways, once again thank you for your support, and God Bless everyone.

Hello everyone...this is my second tour here in Iraq and it gives me a very good feeling to know that there folks back in the states that have redirected their negatives views on the war to positive support of our troops, US, the men and women of our great nation. I would like to thank each and every one of you who support us and ALWAYS make our return home that much more pleasurable...with that said I sincerely hope the support continues and hope to be home really soon. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

I just want to say thank you for all your support from back home. It's nice to hear positive instead of constant negative. Those of us over here just want you to know that we fight for our country because we love it so much. And it is nice to hear that OUR country LOVES US as much as WE LOVE IT. Thanks again for the kind words and support.

Thanks to everyone that sends messages to us. It means so much to know that people are gathering behind us in our time or need. I wish I could personally, face to face thank each and every person. But since I can't, Thank you one and all and God Bless The USA.

I'm reminded of a group of servicemembers who did not have their communities' support. Our fathers and grandfathers who served in Vietnam, and after experiencing my generations form of war, I am humbled and amazed by the support that the American public has shown to us overseas. I have approximately 60 days left here and I am grateful of the support and the kindness that everyone has shown, and I offer my thanks and respect to yesterdays soldiers, who without them we would not have the support we do today, America learned a hard lesson, Thanks to your sacrifice. Thank you and God Bless

This is not my 1st go around in the military...I actually have 17 years altogether, but after 9/11, I realized I had to do something. I am 44 and have been married for 19 years and 5 children. I would just like to thank each and every one of you for your support, no matter the reason for it...you, just as you say we are, are appreciated for your support. Nothing gives me or anyone else in my unit a bigger kick than getting one of those care packages, and the colored pictures from the kids...man, I have to excuse myself for a moment and collect myself....and I am not the only one...men who are much bigger than I need a tissue after those. So America...you keep up the fight on your end..and we will do the same here...wherever here is...it is an honor and a privilege to serve you!
